This weekend I experienced my very first DNS owing to personal injury. DNS = Did Not Begin... as in, did not get started a race. It’s runner language for not exhibiting up or commencing a race at all. Which is far better than a whole lot of other alternatives like…

It makes me unfortunate. And I realized it’s the to start with time in my jogging everyday living that I was not ready to run a race due to injuries!!
So on a person hand I’m grateful that I’ve been so healthier and lucky up until eventually this point. But I’m super bummed that I could not run the Extensive Beach Marathon with my buddy. And I’m unhappy I wasn’t full of endorphins and pizza viewing so quite a few runners update Instagram with their Chicago Marathon end moments! It was incredibly exciting and I’m pleased for absolutely everyone who had a good race! It made me want to be out there with them!
It is okay to be unhappy and I’m honoring my feelings when attempting to continue to be favourable and concentrate on the silver linings.
I’m joyful that I didn’t try to press it and operate a race wounded. I’m glad I did not attempt to run following I hurt my foot!! I get bonus points for becoming advised it is NOT a anxiety fracture and not so substantially as seeking to go out for a couple of miles – for the reason that I was listening to my body. (Turns out it was worse than a worry fracture – it’s a total fracture. Which I however really do not know how they missed on the x-ray.)
I talked to Kristin (aka @StuftMama on IG) following the Lengthy Seashore Marathon yesterday. I was meant to run it with her! It was pleasant to discuss about the race and the study course due to the fact I’ve run it a several periods and love conversing about operating.
I deemed going to the race to spectate, but resolved that wouldn’t be a great plan. It’d be a ton of strolling and time on my feet. I noticed that I was further exhausted this weekend just after just cleaning and errands in the boot. I requested a lighter boot that with any luck , will be a lot easier to lug close to. And I really do not have the shoe elevate to even out the peak for my other shoe. (That is also ordered and on the way.)
So I’m nonetheless on damaged foot obligation and have a whole lot to do in the way of healing and recovery. Doctor’s appointments and investigate into tools, gyms, very best practices, etcetera.. has taken a great deal of time as well!
Now at minimum I have an official diagnosis so I can make a prepare to mend and arrive again sturdy and balanced. I’m producing a Countdown to Managing Calendar so I can retain my eyes on the prize!
